Rosalie and Shane
Brandon and I met online about a year and a half ago and incredibly, we linked up through two common interests: motorcycles and the outspoken Valentino Rossi, a highly revered Italian rider. Brandon has been an avid rider since the age of three, riding everything from quads to dirt bikes to Ducatis. From day one, Brandon loved sharing stories about his adventures in the great sand dunes of California and Idaho and I couldn’t wait to oneday join him on those rides. Little did I know that he’d teach me how to ride both quads and motorcycles by summer’s end. Our affinity for the sport only deepened and so did our love.
Within a few short months of dating, Brandon and I went to Austin, Texas to watch the Interational Moto Grand Prix races at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). It’s a beautiful track with a tremendous 22 story observation tower that dominates the center of the track. We had such a fabulous time last year that we decided to go again this year.
On the second day of the races, Brandon suggested we take the quick elevator ride up to the top of the tower to get a bird’s eye view of the city before the next practice. The elevator doors opened to a breathtaking view of the city and surrounding hills. After exiting the elevator, I suggested we walk to one side of the deck to take a picture, but Brandon instead led me to the center area. He spotted a couple near us and approached them with both of our phones. He seemed to be whispering to them so I turned around and watched the motorcycles speed down the track. I figured he was just trying to explain to them how our phones worked. Before I knew it, he came close and got on one knee. I was speechless and even more so when he showed me the one-of-a-kind Edwardian engagement ring from 1890 that belonged to his great great great grandmother!
I couldn’t help but feel every warm memory of us sweep over me and I squealed a resounding “Yes!” and we embraced. Everyone near us began to cheer and take pictures. It was truly a remarkable moment.
I’ve never seen a smile so big- Brandon radiated and the joy he emitted was unforgettable. We are so thrilled to continue our life journey together.
