Karen and Edwin
It all began when my now fiance, Edwin, asked me to have an all day date in Orlando. Our original day date plan was to go to St. Augustine, but due to a hurricane we had to change our plans. He told me to dress up for the day since we were going to different places for our date. I did not want to think anything of it since we had been dating for 3.5 years and I did not want to put my hopes up thinking he was going to propose. This date was mainly to go out while I was on a break from school. On the morning of October 15, He picked me up early in which I was not expecting. He told me not to worry about anything that he had a day planned out for us. We started out simple by going to Chick Fil A for breakfast. After we finished breakfast, he told me we were going to Leu Gardens for a double date with some friends of ours. I did not think anything of it because we were meaning to go with our friends to Leu Gardens for a long time. We got to the garden and we were the first ones to get there. Our friends had a camera with them, and I did not pay attention to it since they like to take pictures. We entered the place and we started by going around a small trail. It was beautiful in the morning but very hot. As we approached the Rose Garden, I updated my Snapchat with a video of the rose garden. Our friends and Edwin went separate ways and since I had stayed in the back. I didn’t know which way to go so I decided to follow Edwin. I told Edwin, “this is a beautiful garden. They have weddings here.” He responded, “I wonder if they do engagements too.” I was in shock not knowing what to say. He continued, “yeah, why don’t we go ask the front desk.” I was still in shock and I asked“for what?” In my head I was screaming and thinking “is he really going to propose?”
As I turned around to look at him he poured out his heart to me telling me how much he loved me and he got in one knee and asked me to marry him. Our friends captured the whole moment. We went walking afterwards and my fiance had a video on his phone where he showed what he did to prepare for the engagement. My parents don’t speak English very well and Edwin does not speak Spanish. My fiance prepared to ask for my hand in Spanish to my dad. I thought that was the sweetest detail ever. My family is very important to me and that was one of the things that I loved about this proposal. I am thankful to be engaged to an extraordinary guy!
