How We Met
Alex and I met in August of 2016 while I was vacationing in Key West, Florida with my best friends. We went on a day outing on a catamaran where we went scuba diving, parasailing, and jet skiing. On that same boat, Alex was working and living down in Key West. He came up to me to comment on how burnt the tops of my feet were, and immediately there was a spark and both smiling ear to ear.
My friends encouraged me to go out with him, while I responded with “this is not how you meet people, this is so weird!”. After that day, we have been inseparable ever since. Alex moved a few months later from his first love, the ocean, where he grew up and had always lived, and came to be with me in the desert of Arizona. We always tell each other “from desert to see, with you I will forever be”. Now, May 26, 2021, we have set the date to be married on that exact catamaran we met on, The Flyer.
How They Asked
Alex and I plan a joint birthday party every year, but this year was different. On the morning of our “birthday party”, we had coffee on the porch, like always, and Alex got down on one knee. It was so special because that morning-time together is so special to us.
Little did I know, this year’s “birthday party”, was actually our engagement party with all of my best friends. We spent the day celebrating with our closest friends and family but shared the moment of just us two the morning of the proposal.
