How We Met
We knew of each other when we were in high school, but it wasn’t until Valentine’s Day of our junior year of college that we were re-introduced. Casey gave me a ride home and we ended up talking in his truck for hours. I “lost my phone” so I had to give him my number to call it. The rest is history!
How They Asked
Casey knew he wanted to propose at Moraine Lake in Banff National Park. On our first day of vacation, we hiked around Lake Louise, to Mirror Lake, to Lake Agnes Tea House and then up to the top of Little Bee Hive. After we hiked down we headed to Moraine Lake. When we got there it was FREEZING and snowing and you could barely see the lake. We took a few quick pictures and left. When we got back to the condo Casey was very adamant that we figure out a way to go back when it was pretty outside. I thought it was weird, but figured whatever, that’s fine with me!
Two days later we took a gondola up to the top of Sulphur Mountain, had lunch and enjoyed the views. When we got back down, the weather was nice so we decided to head back to Moraine Lake. We hiked to the top of Rock Pile Trail where a man asked me to take a picture of him and his wife and they would return the favor. I agreed, took their picture and they did the same for us. After she took several, Casey said “WAIT! One more!” I thought “jeez, okay.” When I turned to look at him he was down on one knee. I didn’t react at first because I was worried he was tying his shoe or something and I didn’t want to look stupid. Finally, he pulled out the ring and I just kept saying “shut up, shut up, shut up. Are you serious?! Really?!” I eventually spit our yes and cried like a baby. It was the best day ever.
