How We Met
Zach and I met in the summer of 2016. I still remember our first date like it was yesterday. I remember feeling like I wasn’t sure if I was ready to date someone seriously but when I met Zach I couldn’t have been surer. After our first date, we became inseparable. We had the same morals, sense of humor, and love for life.
We spent every moment we could together. Zach is a corporate pilot so he travels a ton for work, but we make the most of his time away with me occasionally flying out to meet him on trips and enjoying every moment at home together. A few months after we started dating Zach flew all my friends and family to Vegas on the jet.
It was one of the best experiences of my life. On our flight back to LA somewhere in the clouds over the desert, I gathered all my courage and told Zach how much I was falling in love with him. Over the next few years, Zach and I have tackled life together and become each other’s other halves.
He encouraged me to follow my dreams of becoming a flight attendant and I found my passion for aviation. We traveled the world together from New York, Paris, Italy, to Hawaii. Whether we were together exploring the world or (my fav place) sitting on our couch watching our favorite TV show, The Office, it’s clear how happy we are just to be together.
How They Asked
The week leading up to Valentine’s Day, I asked Zach if we should stick to our usual Valentine’s Day date; dinner at Dukes in Malibu. I was taken off guard when we said he had a better surprise for me. He told me to pack our bags because we were going on a trip. The next 4 days were filled with tons of questions. Where were we going to? Is it warm or cold there? How long will be gone? But all I got was “ it’s a surprise, go get your hair and nails done.” If you know me at all, you know I hate surprises! I think Zach got a lot of enjoyment from watching me stir in ideas! The night before our flight Zach told me he was taking me to Kaua’i! We had been wanting to visit that island for a while, and I was blown away that he had planned this whole trip without me having any idea. He had even emailed with my boss to get me time off and keep the surprise a secret. We jetted off and before I knew it I was in our hotel room with a welcome bouquet of Hawaiian flowers and Champagne. That night came to another surprise!
He told me we were taking a helicopter tour around the island first thing in the morning. That morning he was really nervous. He kept telling me he was ok but I thought he was worried about flying in a helicopter (oddly enough). I started to get nervous and by the time the rotors were spinning we were committed and lifting off. I was beyond excited, and the helicopter tour took us all around the island with breathtaking views. Before I knew it we started to descend down a valley to the bottom of the waterfall from Jurassic Park! As we got out of the helicopter and walked to the waterfall trying to take it all in, Zach asked our pilot to have our picture taken. I stood there smiling and we took a few pictures but before I knew it Zach was on one knee.
He started to tell me how much he loved me and the tears instantly started flowing. All I could say is YES! A million times YES! He went on to tell me how much exploring the world together and flying together has meant to him, so it only felt right to fly me to the bottom of a waterfall to propose. Zach is the guy of my dreams. My absolute best friend. I always told him he could have asked me to marry him anywhere, anyway and I would have said yes but talk about romance. How could I get so lucky?! We explored the island in our little red Jeep for the next few days and enjoyed every second of our special journey together. I couldn’t be happier than to be coming home with the title Fiancé and the story of a lifetime.
