How we met
Nick and I met through mutual friends. My best friend, Jordan, married one of his good friends from work, Donald. Jordan had won tickets to see Garth Brooks and asked if I wanted to go with them (YES!). As Jordan and I were leaving the night of the concert, Nick had just arrived to pick Donald up for work. On our way to the concert, Jordan had mentioned that Nick was single and mentioned that we should go on a date. Turns out, that night at work, Nick had asked Donald if Jordan had any single friends…hinting at me. Fast forward about two months and Nick and I were on our first date. I knew that night that Nick was the one, and the rest is history!
how they asked
Nick and I really enjoy traveling and I had mentioned to him that I wanted to go to Monterey for my birthday in July. He was instantly excited to go! About a week before we left, Nick had asked if he could take me to a really nice dinner to celebrate. As a girl who loves to get dolled up, I happily agreed. Nick made dinner reservations for 6:30, but on our way to dinner he wanted to stop and take pictures on a beach that one of his coworkers had told him about.
When we got to the beach, as we were looking for someone who could take a picture of us, a woman with a camera bag and a bouquet of flowers started walking down the beach. I thought it was so sweet and thought they were for another guy who was proposing. For about 5 minutes, Nick and I watched as this woman laid flowers down the path to the sand. When she was finished, I thought we could ask her to take our picture (since she was a professional). Nick took my hand and started leading me down the path of flowers and still having no idea this was for me, I said, “Watch your step! Don’t step on the other guy’s flowers!” As we approached the end of the path, Nick whispered in my ear, “I love you so much” and kissed me.
It was then that he pulled a ring out, got down on his knee and asked me to marry him! Obviously, I said YES!!! I was so shocked in the moment that the next couple of hours are still a complete blur. It could not have been any more perfect. I was the happiest girl in the world and I cannot wait to spend forever with my best friend.
