How We Met
In 2011, Giancarlo & I met on a chat room online. He lived in Georgia and I lived in Washington state. We didn’t get off on the best foot in the beginning and didn’t like each other very much. Over time we began talking a lot. We would Skype each other every day, tell each other about our days, learn each other’s likes and dislikes. He was my best friend. On February 18th, 2012, Giancarlo asked me to be his girlfriend. It took me a few minutes to say yes. I was trying to figure out the perfect words, a giant smile on my face. In the end of March 2012, Giancarlo told me he was going on a road trip with his friends. We weren’t able to talk much during this drive. Until one day he called me and told me that he was in Washington! It was the craziest thing. After that we were inseparable. He permanently moved to Washington and we spent basically every day together.
how they asked
Giancarlo and I traveled to Georgia to visit his family for Christmas break in December 2017. One day Gian told me we were going to go stay the night in Atlanta. We went to the beautiful Mandarin Oriental hotel and stayed in a room with a gorgeous balcony with a view of the city. We talked for a little bit and then when it hit 7:00 pm, he took my hand and pulled me outside onto the balcony. We were standing there together, when he suddenly got down on one knee and pulled the ring out of his jacket pocket. In the middle of his speech he began to tear up to the point where he forgot what he was saying, when he finally asked “Kaitlyn, will you marry me?” I said yes over and over again. We stayed outside for a little bit, enjoying the view and the silence around us. When we went back into the room, a bottle of champagne and small chocolates were laid out for us. Afterwards, we went out to dinner at the Sun Dial restaurant on the top floor of the Westin. We ate a delicious meal and to end the night we had to go see Star Wars: Rogue One in theaters. The best way to end the day, in our opinion.
