How We Met
It was the junior year in high school when I met the man of my dreams. Yes, we were still pretty young but my heart was set and set on him. We both told our friends how cute the other person was, this was high school after all. Finally, we got introduced and we instantly clicked. After weeks of getting to know each other, I remember having a serious talk with him, and he told me that he was already serious about me, and that made my heart melt. About halfway through the school year, we attended our class trip to Boston and that is where it all happened.
One of the evenings we were there, he stole me away to ask me to be his girlfriend, obviously, I said yes. Let me also say that he was my very first boyfriend, (spoiler alert) and very last. From going to banquets, school trips and finally graduating high school together. We attended the same University together and had so many more adventures together. We had been together for almost 5 years before he asked the BIG question. But we both knew that one day we’d be married. There is no one else I would have rather been high school sweethearts with.
How They Asked
It was a beautiful lazy Sunday, and I had zero plans for the day. I was sitting in my room eating cherries when I heard our doorbell go off, my mother asked me to answer the door, so I did. When I opened the door, there stood Derrick my handsome boyfriend (soon to be fiancé). He came and surprised me! I was super excited to see him since we hadn’t seen each other in weeks. He seemed rushed in my opinion, and I now know why. He told me that he had a date planned and that I needed to get ready, fast. So being me I was so excited to see him I didn’t feel like getting ready, but I did anyway.
He then came into my room with a beautiful pink dress and told me that he wanted me to wear it for the date, and boy was I excited. He then told me that I needed to be blindfolded because this date was special. So he helped me into the car, and he drove around in what now found out was just circles…Once we arrived he helped me out and walked me quite a while. My heart was racing and I was extremely confused about what was happening. He took the blindfold off and I was standing in our cute little white gazebo. This gazebo was at our favorite park, and it was where we went for most of our dates.
But this time it was decorated in so many roses and candles. In front of me was Derrick in a brand new suit he had gotten for our day. He looked so handsome! I looked over to see my family and closest friends standing there in support. I instantly knew what was happening. Derrick said so many sweet things to me, which will remain a secret. Then he bent down on one knee and opened the little red ring box to the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. He asked me the big question and I was so excited that I jumped on him and screamed YES!
He instantly whispered that he needed to put the ring on my finger, and of course, I let him do so. After we took our moment with each other, I went and hugged each of my family members and as well as my friends. What I didn’t know was that he ALSO had catered Olive Garden for all of us to each in the cute little park on the table he has set up. But that’s not all, he set up a photo booth area so we could stay even longer in the moment.
The photographer he hired also let us do a photo shoot after all of the fun. Let me just say, best day ever! This coming July 2019 will be one year of being engaged and it has been the best! We are currently going on six years of being together with our wedding just around the corner. I couldn’t ask for a better man.
