How We Met

Brought together by our joint love for the University of Arizona Wildcats, it all started on the night of October 25, 2014, at the Milwaukee Street Tavern in Denver, Colorado. Aaron and I were out cheering on our Wildcats at the weekly game watch event. Eager to learn more about the Colorado Cats, I began discussing ways to get involved with the board members, when Aaron decided to break the ice and tell me I should friend him on Facebook, to which I quickly responded, “why”?

Over the next six months, Aaron continued to pursue me, mostly unsuccessfully, until finally on the night of March 28, 2015, there was magic in the air and we could no longer deny or delay our connection. From that night on, the rest is history!

how they asked

As with most great stories, It all started with a little white lie… Aaron often travels for work, and on occasion, I get to come along for the ride. This ride was particularly special because while Aaron lured me to come with him on a “business trip” to Napa, the only business was for us to come back engaged. Aaron started devising the plan months beforehand, telling me that his client in Napa was going to have an event on Friday, May 5, 2017. Luckily, I didn’t need much more convincing after hearing it was in Napa, and I immediately agreed to come with him.

Aaron left me early Friday morning to attend his “meeting”, with the plan that he’d come back and pick me up for our afternoon of wine tasting. Instead of going to a meeting, Aaron went to Peju Winery, whom he’d been working with for the past month to set up the perfect proposal. After meeting the staff, photographer, and walking through the timeline, it was time for Aaron to head back to the hotel and fetch me.

We arrived at the winery and were treated to a wonderful private tasting & tour. At the end of the tour, we were taken to a secluded sitting area in the middle of the vineyard, complete with roses and a bottle of bubbly. After a moment to take everything in, Aaron suggested we walk into the vineyard and take a picture. At this point, Aaron positioned me so the hidden photographer could capture our special moment and then proceeded to drop down on one knee. It was an incredibly emotional moment for the both of us, but the happiest day of our lives! And of course, I said YES!

As if Aaron’s proposal wasn’t magical enough, he planned an entire surprise-filled weekend full of sipping wine at the beautiful vineyards of Napa, eating at amazing Michelin star restaurants and to top it all off, he booked us a suite at the gorgeous Harvest Inn by Charlie Palmer. Needless to say, it was a weekend we will surely never forget!! #KandASoiree. To see more, please check out our engagement photographer’s blog featuring our engagement!
