How We Met
We met on Bumble, and I told him I wanted to meet someone in a more organic way 😄🤷🏼♀️
Fast forward to New Years’ Eve 2018 and he messaged to tell me how pretty I was. We agreed to go on a date. He showed up with poke and wine and we enjoyed the sunset in Waikiki. I don’t like poke, but I liked him and I ate it anyway ♥️ The rest is fishtory! (Poke is raw fish) :)
How They Asked
We went to visit Big Island for a vacation over Valentine’s Day weekend. We had picked out my engagement ring, but I wasn’t sure if he had received it in time to propose on this mini-vacation. On our trip, we visited so many beautiful places. In the back of my mind, I was like, “Is he going to do it here? Wait, does he even have the ring with him?” On February 16, we arrived at a beautiful valley in hopes to do a waterfall hike. This valley has wild horses, a black sand beach and just a vibe that cannot be ignored. I’m a huge talker, but in order to respect the land, we were silent the whole way.
Before we began the hike, we were greeted by a wild pony; I knew it was going to be a special day, but not this special. We crossed rivers, had a few tumbles and then arrived at the most majestic falls I had ever seen. He asked if he should wear his shirt or jacket for the pictures and I had a feeling. He got down on one need and asked me to marry him. I said, “Of course.” Later he said he had a whole speech planned but when I started crying and saying, “Oh no, I knew it!” Out of sheer excitement, he forgot the whole thing. The magic moment with my magic man.
