How We Met
Michael and I met in Orange Beach during the summer of 2014. I was home for a few months before heading back to The University of Alabama for my senior year. We instantly became friends and were always laughing around each other. It was not until the next fall our friendship would grow into so much more.
On my 23rd birthday, Michael asked if he could take me to a concert in Tuscaloosa. Without hesitation, I said “of course!” We had the best time and I knew then I did not want to do life without him.
how they asked
Michael and I have an annual Christmas date. We always go to the Alabama Theater to see “It’s A Wonderful Life”. It is our favorite Christmas movie. This year, Michael said we should get there early to get good seats since it was sold out. I thought this was a good idea so I went along with it and we showed up an hour early. When we arrived, He had me go get each of us a drink and he said he would go pick us out seats. Little did I know, he was going to meet his sister who was already saving us seats. She and my roommate were waiting near by (out of sight for me) to take pictures. Before the movies start, the theater always has a time for a sing-a-long. The organist comes out and plays a few songs to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. Before the sing-a-long started, the organist said there was a question that needed to be asked. I was still so unaware of what was going on. He started to play the organ and on the screen was a message from Michael asking me to marry him.
It was perfect! He got down on one knee and I immediately shook my head yes! I could not get any words out through the tears. Then his sister, his parents, and my roommate came out to take pictures and congratulate us! I was so surprised! There were 2,500 people cheering and clapping for us. I could not imagine anything more romantic or perfect. I am so excited for this next chapter of our lives.
