How We Met
Bryan and I both met in high school when we were 14! I was living in Australia and did a semester of school in Canada. I was a little boy crazy and had my sights set on him from week 2. After weeks of continuous flirting we went on our first date at lunch time!
Once the semester was over, and I headed back to Australia, Bryan I did 4 years of long distance. Our long distance communication consisted of emails and Skype!
During these 4 years, we saw each other in person, a total of 4 times. I moved to Canada when I turned 19, and attended the same University as Bryan! We have now been together for 9 years!
How They Asked
In 2018, Bryan and I did a backpacking trip to Thailand for 3 weeks. Our best friends live there, so we thought it was an opportunity that couldn’t be missed! On our first weekend, we went to a small Island off of Bangkok to spend a few days. The first morning, Bryan and our friends were insistent that we go see the sunset that evening! So we rented motorbikes and drove 20min to one of the most beautiful lookout points I had ever been to!
We took a few pictures, and then Bryan gave our camera to our friend Turner and asked him to take a picture of “just us”…the next thing I know, my best friend in the entire world was on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
I was so overwhelmed that I don’t even remember if I said yes?! The moment that I had been rehearsing in my head since I was 15 had finally happened! We then rode back down the mountain and Bryan told me how he had Skyped my parents in Australia, 2 weeks before our trip to ask for their blessing to marry me. Koh Samet is a place that will forever be in my heart…We are now currently planning our wedding that will take place in Australia this upcoming August!
