Layi proposed in front of 45 of our closest friends during his 35th birthday party which I threw for him. I had no clue what he had planned that night but noticed he was acting very fidgety and used the restroom about 10 times before dinner was served.
During the toasts, while thanking all our friends for coming, he called me up to thank me for planning such a wonderful birthday party for him then got down on one knee and popped the question.
I was completely floored, and of course did the ugly cry I promised myself I would never do when this moment arrived. Our friends cheered and hollered and it was the best moment ever!
In hindsight, his brother having a camera in my face all through the event, pestering me, all of a sudden makes perfect sense
