Julie and Corey
How We Met
Well, Corey and I have known each other our whole lives. I danced for 15 years at a local dance studio in Weirton, WV and he has three sisters who also danced there. His oldest sister is the same age as my sister so I was more friends with his sister, Kassy, before him. At every dance event Corey was the little ornery boy running around. We were always friendly to one another, but we never got together until a year and a half ago. I mean I always thought he was cute, of course, but never took that step and neither did he. Corey actually said to me one day that he didn’t think I would ever be interested in him because he didn’t think I liked him.
I just never really knew what to say so when I said hi to him that was kind of it. In August of 2015 he was bartending a wedding and I was invited to it as a guest. I had a lot of alcohol encouragement and with the help of his sister Kassy, her husband, and some other guests I made a successful attempt at hitting on him. We actually went home together that night and it was history from then. It was early to tell but I think we both knew something clicked with each other and it just felt right.
how they asked
Corey really went above and beyond on this part and did everything I’ve ever dreamed of. It was perfect. Since we had started dating we kind of always talked about marriage and joked about it, but once we were together for about 6 months we knew it was getting serious and we were meant to be together. In April of 2016 Corey went out and bought my dream ring. He started making a video behind my back of him showing the ring behind me. I never knew he was doing it and sometimes I was so confused as to why we would be in a public place walking together then he would just stop and fall behind. Our 1 year was in August and we planned a trip to Florida at his dads house in Cocoa Beach. Without my knowledge, he asked my parents for my hand in marriage and arranged them and his parents to be in Florida for the proposal. We were having an amazing vacation (minus the hurricane) and we were going to dinner that night.
He wanted to go to the dock that we have visited many times there and wanted to take pictures. He is very into photography and videography so I thought nothing of it. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and showed our parents in the distance watching the whole thing happen. Later that month he finished a video and showed it to me of how long he had the ring. Naturally, I cried through the whole thing and still do when I watch it today. Corey planned this whole thing on his own and I couldn’t be more lucky to marry an amazing man.
