How We Met
We met through a mutual friend in St. Louis. Tyler and I were both big athletes growing up in St. Louis. This friend thought we would be perfect for each other with similar interests. Somehow, he was right! After a couple nights of being out in St. Louis with a group, Tyler got the courage to ask me “can I take you on a real date, without the group?” The rest is history as one date turned into many more. Now we will get married on May 15, 2021.
How They Asked
Julia was running the Olympic Trials Marathon. This is where only the top female athletes in the country compete to see who will represent the US at the Olympics for the marathon. Julia went in ranked 25th. She finished the race 10th in the country! At the race, about 50 of their friends and family had traveled into watch and cheer. Julia thought this was just for the race. But, Tyler had another plan in mind too. After the race, he managed to get everyone together (somehow with the crowds of thousands of people) and while everyone was there, he got down on one knee and proposed. Julia was surprised enough to be able to finish top 10 in the country for the marathon, but this may have just surpassed that surprise. She said Yes! This story was so incredible it made the front page of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the hometown of both Julia and Tyler. See the link below. Little did they both know, that this was the last weekend of 2020 before the world went into shutdown mode. It could not have been a better weekend!
