How We Met
We were both out in Fells Point, Baltimore, at a bar crawl for St. Patrick’s Day. Ryan noticed me early on in the night and knew he was going to make his way to talk to me, but before he had the chance, I walked right up to him and asked if he knew which beers were part of the bar crawl’s special.
We kept finding our way back to each other throughout the night and ended up spending the evening together bar hopping and dancing! It’s been over two years of happiness and we can’t wait for many, many more!
How They Asked
My sweet friend, and amazing photographer, Sarah, asked if Ryan and I could do a couples photoshoot with her so she could add some fun photos to her “couples portfolio.” This was right down my alley so I was all about it, but Ryan had some reservations as he hadn’t really done that sort of thing before. After some convincing, he gave in and said he would do it! I was really excited because things had been a little different for me recently.
I’m a labor and delivery nurse and got COVID back in April on the job. Thankfully, I recovered, but it resulted in intense daily migraines, making me unable to return to work for the past 4+ months. As anyone can imagine, it has been difficult. I knew doing this photoshoot would really cheer me up and get me out of the house. Also, I had never done a couples photoshoot before, so it was extra exciting.
Little did I know, Ryan found a way to reach out to the photographer, Sarah (who he had never talked to or met before), and asked if he could move up the photoshoot because he wanted to propose to me that very week.
So, this photoshoot went from something Sarah and I planned together to a secret proposal photoshoot Ryan planned behind my back! The day of the photoshoot, I introduced Ryan and Sarah for what I THOUGHT was the first time, but really, they had met earlier in a parking lot for him to give her the ring to hold onto!
I tell him the only way he pulled this off without me knowing was by making me think I planned the whole thing😂. We enjoyed dinner together right after where I happy-cried over and over with excitement and awe, right through my wine, guacamole, and tacos. We then took a stroll down to our favorite little cocktail spot in Fells Point. As we approached, my sisters and a few of our closest friends came from around the corner and surprised me! We had the most beautiful evening sipping champagne with friends by the water under twinkly lights. It was absolute perfection. I could re-live it over and over.
This was truly the best day of my life so far. I am so grateful for having my best friend become my fiancé and I can’t wait to become his wife!
