How We Met
We met in 2012 at the CSUN Career Center when I started as a graduate intern. During training, in an effort to get quiet Richard to talk, I asked him if he could teach me how to use a camera one day. We haven’t stopped talking since that day, and I am now his wife and biggest supporter of his photography. He even named his company after me!
How They Asked
We took a trip to Alaska in an effort to see the Northern Lights. Richard sneakily told me that he was too stressed to plan a proposal, so I wasn’t expecting anything more than a pleasant trip. After waiting hours for cloud cover to clear, we finally saw hints of green in the sky. He cleverly asked me to pose for a picture and set up a time lapse to capture the moment. At 2 am, in Wiseman, Alaska, on a frozen river well above the Arctic Circle, in -10 degrees weather, the Northern Lights burst to life, and Richard finally found the perfect place to propose to me.
He turned to me and said, “Isn’t this a perfect moment?” I agreed, and he continued “You know what would make it even more perfect?” He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes! =) It’s been 3 years to the day since that magical moment, and it still stands out as one of the best days of our lives.
