How We Met
Josh and I met in Big Bear Lake, California on NYE 2017. We were both the only single people there in our friend groups. I had just arrived in a bar with friends and almost right away Josh approached me and asked me “so where are you from?”. Instantly I told him “no” because I never wanted to meet a guy in a bar! After a few drinks, he came back for one more try and I felt so bad for denying him that I gave him another shot… and the rest is history!
How They Asked
Josh has always been very “boujee”. He took me on a Duffy boat for my birthday, plans romantic dates, and always picks the coolest restaurants so I’m never surprised when he does something romantic for me. On New Years Day he said he had a surprise to celebrate one year together.
We headed towards San Diego and instantly I thought he was taking me whale watching (I love whales!!!). As we got closer I realized we were going on a sailboat, I was freaking out since I was scared but so excited at the same time.
There was one other couple on the charter with us that we did not know so at this point I’m definitely not expecting an engagement. About an hour in, Josh asked the woman to take a picture of us in front of the sunset. He wanted to get a picture of us standing (I was so confused why) and almost right after is when he pulled out the ring.
I couldn’t believe it! Josh was so nervous that the captain said: “knee-knee get on your knee!”. We got engaged in the San Deigo Bay, in front of the skyline, and with an amazing sunset! Needless to say, he was able to execute the most romantic proposal I could’ve asked for and I had no idea it was coming.
