How We Met
We met at a mutual friends house. I was there hanging out with my friends and she happened to live with her brother. Her brother was involved in the cycling club, so he decided to invite some people from the club and Joseph was one of them who ended up coming. Other than introducing ourselves, we didn’t really talk until later in the evening. Once we started talking we realized that we had a lot in common, we went on a hike the next day and the rest is history.
How They Asked
I thought that we were going to Atlanta for the weekend to see some friends, little did I know that Joseph had been planning the most elaborate proposal for several months. He said he was working a half day at work and would be home around 1:00, when he wasn’t there by 1:45 I called him, there was no answer. Immediately after, I got a phone call from my friend, Lynn, and she told me to look under the couch cushions for a book. Once I found the book and opened it up there was a list of rules that I had to follow that would eventually lead me to Joseph’s mystery location. It was basically a scavenger hunt. The book was filled with all of our adventures near and far from all the years we have spent together. There were clues that led to more memories/pictures/objects from our travels through Europe to movie nights at our local theatre.
When I got to the end of the book I had to call his parents and they led me to Asheville because I had a flight early the next morning. When I got to the hotel Joseph emailed me my itinerary, I was flying to NYC. When I landed I had to take an uber to an address that he posted on his Instagram, it was a brunch spot. I met Joseph’s college roommate, Nate, and his girlfriend there. After we ate, I thought we were going to the hotel, but they led me to Joseph waiting for me at the entrance of Central Park. We went for a stroll and ended up near the pond with all the ducks, I thought we were going to feed them, instead, he got down on one knee and finally asked me to marry him! I said “YESSS” and definitely had a Monica moment in Central Park exclaiming “WE’RE ENGAGED!!!”.
