how we met
Usually love stories start off by two people meeting and falling in love. With us, things didn’t really start that way. We met at a bodybuilding show that we were both competing in and at the time we were at two very different points in our lives. A few years went on and that’s how things continued just two really good friends with a lot of the things in common who had no intention of things turning into anything else. Never, in a million years did either of us think we would end up in an intimate relationship, but the world has a really interesting way at bringing two people together. And now, here we are, with a beautiful 2 year old baby girl named Chloe, engaged.
how they asked
Even in the depths of our relationship, I was not prepared or expecting a proposal. Sneaky, sneaky. I received a text from a good friend, Emily, about a month before he popped the question, asking for a favor. She’s a pretty incredible photographer, and she claimed to need a couple to shoot so she could send some of her photos in for marketing purposes. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, I considered it a win, win. Jorgè and I didn’t have any professional photos together, so we would get beautiful memories and help a friend out at the same time. A few weeks went by and the planning between Emily and I continued. What would I wear? What would Jorgè where? Little did I know, this was all part of the plan. So finally, the day of the photoshoot arrived and we drove out to the Everglades to meet Emily.
On arrival, we got there early, so we waited for the sun to set a little bit so she could get just the right lighting for her photos. We went on shooting for 45 mins in all different locations, until we came down to the water were there was, what looked like, a little picnic set up. The entire shoot, the three of us were goofing off, but in this moment, Emily had us both close our eyes while we held hands and proceeded with a pretty serious question. “Where do you guys see yourselves in 10 years?” she asked.
She then continued with, “Jorgè, you go first.” Everything after that is pretty much a blur. He began to speak and say all the sweet , incredible things that pretty much all women would love to here in a romantic moment like that, and then I felt a tug on my arm so I opened my eyes and I saw the love of my life, bent down on one knee, with the world’s most beautiful piece of jewelry in his hands.
I froze. Completely. I was in disbelief. So many emotions rushing to my attention, and of course, the water works. And all I remember hearing is “So, will you marry me” and it was the most confident “YES” I have ever said in my entire life. Then, to make matters even more emotional for me, he had a shirt for my daughter that read “Mommy said yes”! To have her be a part of the proposal was the icing on top of the cake. From the time you are a little girl, you dream of this moment, and it could not have been more perfect! It was simple, it was intimate, it was undoubtedly us.
