How We Met
We met at church when I was 13 and in the 8th grade and he was 15 and in the 10th grade. The first time I saw him he was wearing his letterman jacket with pins for football, wrestling, & track. I instantly had a crush on this seemingly typical high school jock, but he turned out to be so much more. We began dating February 2011 about a month after my 14th birthday on a Youth Group trip with our church, and so we began our journey as High School Sweethearts. He came to my softball games, I went to his football games, we attended prom for 4 years, and were by each other’s sides at our graduations. My whole high school experience revolved around a boy I fell hard for in the 8th grade.
how they asked
When I graduated from high school in May of 2015 we had been together for over 4 years. High school played a huge role in our relationship, so graduating was about more than just moving onto college, it was closing a chapter in our relationship, and starting a new one. My parents threw me a huge cookout as my graduation party. All of my family & friends were there to congratulate me and celebrate the momentous occasion. Little did I know it was going to become one of the greatest days of my life. After we had eaten and mingled my mom wanted to get pictures of my with my family & friends to mark the occasion. I took photos with my grandparents, family friends, and then finally a picture with my boyfriend Blake. We were standing on a rock, on a hill overlooking the Chattahoochee river as everyone stood around watching. I thought nothing of it as my mom got my attention to direct me where to stand. After she had positioned me & I turned back around there was that 15 year old boy, now nearly 20, that had taken my heart when I was only 14 down on one knee with a ring in his hand.
