Jordan and Alex

How We Met

After being single for about a year and a half from a long-term relationship. I was enjoying finding and learning who I was as an individual. I promised myself to be happy with me first before ever committing to another relationship. My old manager was telling me about a dating website she was on called POF (where she later found her husband) and told me to try it out. She said just have fun with it and don’t take it seriously. I was very skeptical about this because I have heard HORRID stories about dating websites in general. I want to say Day 2 on POF, Alex popped in my messages.

Jordan Lee's Proposal in Centennial Park

Once again, I was skeptical because this is when “catfish” was at an all-time high, and he was attractive! So we just felt each other out before exchanging numbers. When we finally exchanged numbers, we literally talked for hours. I had my guards up with him just because I didn’t want to dive in head first but I really did like him. When we finally met each other in person about a month later, we have been inseparable since then. 5 1/2 years later, Alex is truly my best friend, and I still get that tingly feeling in the pit of my stomach when I see him.

Jordan Lee and Alex Rok's Engagement in Centennial Park

how they asked

My best friend Yvonne Njau wanted me to take part of her sister spring photo shoot for her hairline. I didn’t find that odd at all because we previously did a photo shoot in fall for her. Yvonne told me her sister won this photoshoot with a top-notch elite photographer and to make sure everything was on point. Her sister directed us to all where navy blue and we were to meet and take pictures at Centennial Park first, then we would go to his studio and take different shots there.

Yvonne got a professional make up artist to do our faces for the shoot which still wasn’t out the norm to me because we did that for the first shoot as well. Finally, when we got ready, we took the uber to Centennial Park. As we get to the park, Yvonne just stops. I’m like, “Ummm, Yvonne this isn’t it, we are waking into somebody’s engagement!” When I see my mom and my family pop out from the side. It dawns on me that I’m walking into my engagement and the waterworks begin. The photographer did amazing capturing all the moments.
