How We Met
Adam & I met junior year of high school. We had always had the same friend group, but never really hung out. One night in January 2009, we were at a mutual friends house & began talking. After that, we started hanging out & before we knew it promposal season had arrived. I wanted Adam to ask me (& also ask me to be his girlfriend), but as it got closer to actual prom, I was convinced it wasn’t going to happen. One freezing Sunday in March, we went & rode 4wheelers with another couple. As we are getting ready to leave, Adam takes off his shirt. I was so confused, but as he got closer, his bright red chest said “Prom?”.
He had gone to the tanning bed & tanned the word prom across his chest. For anybody who knows Adam, they know he doesn’t have skin that tans. Needless to say I thought it was very clever & of course said yes!! On April 13th, 2009 Adam became my boyfriend & the rest is history!
how they asked
Saturday December 5th, 2015 started out like any ordinary Saturday. We did our Saturday Starbucks run, followed by a trip to Target. I knew we had tickets to see Elf: The Musical at the Fox Theater that night, but didn’t look too much into it. At Target, Adam insisted on us getting a selfie stick which I found weird because I had wanted one for a while & he had always made fun of me for it. He informed me we had dinner reservations at 5:30pm at South City Kitchen in Midtown. I suggested we dress nice so that we could take cute pictures. (still completely clueless) After dinner, he suggested we walk down to Piedmont Park to look at Christmas lights since we still had a little over an hour before the show. As we got closer to Piedmont Park, I couldn’t help but notice there weren’t any Christmas lights & started complaining. It was cold & my shoes were giving me a blister, but Adam insisted. The park was pretty dark at this point, but there is a dock that overlooks water & you can see the city. Once we were down on the dock, Adam started telling me how much I meant to him. I really have no idea what he said because next thing I knew, he is down on one knee asking me to marry him. I don’t know when I actually said yes because I was too preoccupied with putting the ring on! We face-timed friends & family to let them know the big news & then we were off to see Elf! It was the most perfect December night.
