How We Met
Lily: We met in the spring of 2013, at college, when Jonny joined the same A cappella group I had joined one semester prior. We developed a super-strong friendship over the following three years and went on our first date in the spring of 2016.
How They Asked
Jonny: I started planning the proposal towards the end of Summer 2021 to make sure everything would fall into place by the holidays.
The pandemic didn’t really affect our engagement plans! Fortunately, we were able to make the engagement happen safely! If anything the pandemic brought us closer together and made us want to get engaged even sooner.
I proposed to Lily in Big Sur at the beautiful Post Ranch Inn on December 20th. It was a trip for my “birthday” but on the following day, I caught her off guard and surprised her overlooking the ocean on a private cliff. Her cousin Lorene, who lives an hour away from Big Sur, was hiding in the bushes to take pictures!
We celebrated the rest of the night, and the next morning we drove back to Los Angeles. When we arrived at Jonny’s parents’ to “pick up our dog, Mochi, whom they were dog sitting for” there was a surprise party (planned with @yvonnewolfevents) with all of our immediate family (some who flew in specifically) and close friends that live in LA!
