How We Met
It all started in highschool. Jonathan was a senior and I was a freshman. I thought he was the best thing since sliced bread. He had a cool car, funny friends, good looks, a nice family. What more could you ask for? We had began dating that year for a short while and decided to just stay friends. It was hard since I still had all of highschool to finish and Jonathan was going off to college. We hung out regularly after I graduated highschool and college because Jonathan and I had mutual friends. I stopped coming around because I had a boyfriend and we went our separate ways. After my ex and I broke up, I passed him one day, about 3 years ago now, and he had texted me. We met for lunch at a bar I used to work at full time and we stayed for a good 7 hours. It was so nice to see him and catch up! I didn’t realize how much I missed that person in my life. We started to go on group hang outs and nights out and eventually became inseparable. Jonathan tells me to this day, “I loved you years ago, but I know I loved you for sure on the morning after July 4.” That was our third time hanging out. As we continued to date, I stayed at his apartment with him instead of my parents house. We decided after about a year, it was time to search for a home of our own. We found our dream house in our hometown. Close to all of our friends and family. Jonathan works shifts so I was afraid for the first couple months to stay alone. That’s when we made the decision to add fur babies in the mix! My puppies are my children. I absolutely love them! If you met them, you would too!;)
how they asked
I was bugging Jon about getting engaged and being married. I was watching “Say yes to the dress” on repeat and googling wedding dress when he was around to drop hints. It got to the point where I was calling my dream reception hall to see if they had openings on a date I had in mind. That’s when he knew I was serious and started looking at diamonds. Christmas was approaching and we have so many parties to attend as well as hosting Christmas at our house. I was very stressed out and not wanting to go anywhere. Just relax for the night. Jonathan was acting a bit strange and shady on a Friday night before we were supposed to head to a Christmas party at a jewlery store, this is where our jewler (a very close friend) works and the jewlery store that a good friend owns. I was dreading it. I fought tooth and nail the entire way there and questioned why he was being so quiet and standoffish. I asked him to turn the truck around and please take me home. He stopped and looked at me and said you are going to be very sorry. I took it as a threat instead of him hinting to me that I was being a complete brat. He settled me down and we ended up at the party. We mingled with everyone and he walked me over to show me the wedding bands. I stopped like a deer in headlights. I complained and wanted this moment forever but I was scared. My hands were sweating and I was shaking. Our friend and Jon pulled out a diamond and said “your band won’t be ready for 3-4 weeks since it is custom made, but for the time being this is your diamond.” It was in a temporary band. Jon got down on one knee and proceeded to ask me to marry him and make it official in front of an entire crowd of people and vendors. People were snapping pictures and videos left and right. I couldn’t hold back the tears of joy. I was over the moon excited!
