how we met
Jon and I met on a dock in Lake Stevens the summer going into his senior year of high school, my junior year; 2004. Little did we know, we would get engaged and married on our dock in Lake Stevens 11 years later! We rekindled our friendship when we met again at a charity golf tournament.
We exchanged phone numbers and made plans for a puppy play date at the dog park with his two dogs, Jaeger and Buckley and my dog, Reece. I loved being his friend but when Jon picked me up one sunny afternoon for a cruise in his 1988 Malibu Skier with a paint stained baseball hat on and blasting country music I knew I was falling for him.
how they asked
Jon surprised me one afternoon with a gift card for a ‘couples shoot’ for my birthday. I have always wanted to take professional photos with him and our 3 dogs, and I was so excited he booked Jessica from Raney Day Photography. We made plans for Jessica to come by that Sunday to take the photos at Jon’s lake house. My friends mentioned the idea that Jon would propose but I assured them he would not because we both agreed we would wait until Jon was done playing basketball overseas. BUT I was wrong.
The day of the photoshoot came and we ventured around the property playing with the dogs and telling stories while Jessica snapped some candid photos. As the sun was setting we walked down to the dock and Jon surprised me with a new pair of cowboy boots! I slipped on the boots and we walked hand in hand to the end of the dock, something we do almost every day.
With a little help from Jessica to distract me, Jon pulled out a box from his back right pocket. He got down on one knee and proposed! We hugged and laughed and kissed each other! Then we decided we would say I do on the same dock 4 short weeks later.
