How We Met
We went to our senior prom together in 2010. He asked me to prom at a show choir competition by giving me a Build-A-Bear he had made. After prom, we started what I told everyone would just be a summer fling before I went to U of I and he went to Purdue. And the rest is history :) It has been 7 1/2 years of long distance, so both of us are thankful to be in Nashville together now.
How They Asked
On Sunday, December 17, 2017 after we had both been to church, I was at home with my mom getting dinner ready. We had the Christmas cantata that day, which my dad sings in every year, and my aunt, uncle, and cousin always come over for chili/soup afterwards. John called me and asked if I could come over in the midst of mom and I cooking. I told him it better be quick because we were busy. I drove over to his place. I walked in, left my coat on, asked what was up (no funny business)! He was sitting at the island in the kitchen on his computer. I saw a Banana Republic box on the kitchen counter and I asked him if he tried on the birthday present my mom had gotten him yet. He said, “Yes, but that’s not what that is. I bought your brothers something for Christmas and I was wondering if you could take a look at it for me.” He cued the Ed Sheeran + Beyonce duet, Perfect. I flung open the box and inside was a ring box opened with the ring. He got down on one knee and the rest is a blur (sparkly blur), but he did ask and I did say yes!
