How We Met
Justin and I met in May of 2014, working in childcare and summer camp at the YMCA. We hit it off so naturally and found ourselves talking every day and spending as much time together as we could. It was so easy to fall for his sweet and funny personality (and his ability to work so well with kids didn’t hurt either!). Since then, we’ve had many experiences together. He saw me through college graduation and achieving my dream job as a nurse in a pediatric cardiac ICU, and likewise, I saw him through college graduation and getting into a Doctoral program for Physical Therapy. We’ve also been fortunate enough to travel to many destinations, working together and becoming a stronger couple because of it.
how they asked
We headed across the country to Joshua Tree, California for our last “big” trip before Justin starts in a Doctorate program for Physical Therapy in a few short months. I was super excited not only because it was our first time in California, but because we would also be staying in an airstream! On our first night there, we decided to sit outside and take in all the stars that only the desert sky can provide. We were wrapped up in a blanket together stargazing and Justin began to tell me some of the reasons why he loved me.
Before I could even put together what was happening, he pulled the ring out of his pocket, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was completely surprised and couldn’t believe that he hid the ring in his pocket the entire time we were traveling! I’ve always been a planner, and I really did not expect a proposal, which made it all the more exciting!
We didn’t take any pictures that night since we wanted to keep the moment special and between us, but we made sure to get a few the next day!
