How We Met
Scott and I met through our mutual friend group. We’d actually known of each other for a few years but our paths were not meant to actually cross just yet! In April of 2016, we were both in a group text about our friend’s surprise birthday party and a few weeks later Scott and I started to get to know each other better. Before we knew it, we were seeing each other frequently and finally debuted our relationship in July!
How They Asked
It was a weekend full of celebration and I thought I was going to be the one with all the surprises! It was Scott’s birthday weekend and I had planned to surprise him at our friend’s house with a cake and take him out for drinks at midnight. Fast forward to 11:00 pm on August 1, 2019; we were eating cake and making plans to head to a local bar for drinks when Scott insisted that we go home first and then call an Uber. I was hesitant at first because I didn’t want to miss the midnight birthday wishes but I gave in. We arrived home and I took the dog out for a walk, absentmindedly admiring my fresh manicure. (Scott saw me admiring my nails from the window and panicked. He thought I knew he was about to propose but I had no idea!) I walked in with the dog and he immediately grabbed me and got down on one knee. I was in complete shock, repeating “is this really happening?!” until he started speaking. It was the proposal I’ve always dreamt of, just the two of us. I said yes and we excitedly called our families to share the good news! We drank champagne and called that Uber and went out to continue celebrating our engagement and his birthday!
Pre-engagement story: I was in Spain with students in early July. We celebrated our 3 year anniversary prior to my trip. He took my time away as an opportunity to go ring shopping! He went and looked at rings and diamonds – searching for the best of the best. When he finally arrived at Two by London his experience totally changed. He learned so much about diamonds and truly enjoyed the process! He chose the most breathtaking diamond and beautiful setting to create the ring of my dreams! The fact that he was able to design my ring is so special to me.
