how they asked: Reade and I had been dating for two and a half years. I was teaching 5th grade at an Intermediate school and I was also the High School’s cheerleader coach. I planned a homecoming pep rally for my school and had my cheerleaders, part of the band, and football players coming to participate in the pep rally.
Several teachers from the school made a float to have in the town’s homecoming pep rally and as they brought in the float, Reade was inside the truck hiding. My partner teacher at the time had my cheerleaders and me come over to the center of the track and she had my cheerleaders stand around me.
She said some nice things about me and how I had worked so hard on the pep rally, but there was one more surprise for me. One of my cheerleaders hit my shoulder and I immediately turned around to find Reade with a ring and he immediately dropped to one knee.
Of course, I started crying and I couldn’t speak. The entire school was yelling and I couldn’t hear anything he was saying, but “Would you just please take this ring before I drop it?” It was the most PERFECT day and I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal!
