How We Met
We met in June 2010 through friends. I walked into my friend Amanda’s backyard and instantly had my eyes on Kyle. That night we started talking and realized we both share a mutual love of music…we talked ALL night. We had an instant connection and everyone around us saw it. We just clicked. Shortly after we started dating, attending concerts and falling more and more in love. Throughout our entire relationship, music has always played a significant role. Especially the song “Brooklyn Bridge” by Lee Dewyze. I’ve always wanted to go to the Brooklyn Bridge (it was on my bucket list) and it was something I’ve talked about since the day we met…and he knew it.
how they asked
Fast forward to March of 2016, I was surprising Kyle with a trip to NYC for the weekend to celebrate his 30th birthday. I had it all planned out: the hotel, Knicks tickets, dinner. Little did I know he was behind the ENTIRE weekend. I was led to believe I was planning this weekend for him when all along he was planning something even bigger. We headed up to NY on that Friday and met up with his cousin Dave and his fiancé Jess. Coincidentally they were in the city picking out their wedding bands-and met us for a drink before we walked the bridge. They wanted to come see the bridge because neither of them had been there before (little did I know they were about to capture an unforgettable moment). It was about 7pm, the sun was just setting and the city line was breathtaking. We stopped for a photo op, and right then and there Kyle got down on one knee. I was blindsided, I had NO idea what was about to happen. When I realized what was happening I was in awe. This amazing guy planned an incredible weekend and proposal at the one spot I’ve always wanted to visit. As I stood there with my hand over my mouth hearing the 4 words “will you marry me?” I was on cloud 9…in fact I still am! Jess and Dave got the entire proposal in pictures and I am so grateful they did. The Brooklyn Bridge will always be our spot, and Brooklyn Bridge will always be our song. We spend the night celebrating our engagement at an amazing dinner in Tribeca, and toasting to happily ever after. It was absolutely perfect and I’m so lucky to spend forever with my best friend.
