How We Met
I first met Pat 6 years ago, where we would often see each other in and around the office block.
Finally, one day when we bumped into each other Pat asked me if I would like to go get a coffee with him. We spent the afternoon in a café chatting and getting to know each other. Many date nights, holidays, and adventures around the world later and here we are now planning the rest of our lives together as a soon-to-be-married couple.
How They Asked
Pat told me he had planned for us to go for a nice post-lockdown dinner, and said it would be fun if we took turns to pick a nice restaurant each but not tell each other where we were going, like a mystery dinner date. Pat said he would organize the first restaurant and I was to be ready for dinner at 7.30 pm. As we were driving into the city, he made an unexpected turn towards the Botanical gardens.
As we parked I was confused as to where the restaurant was and Pat kept assuring me we were almost there and to just keep walking. As he led me through the gardens, I began to hear music playing. Pat turned to me and asked, “Do you know this song?” It was one of my favorite songs La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf. It began to sink in that the song was playing for me. I then saw to my left a beautiful rotunda with a big sign lit up with the words Marry Me. Pat lead me through a path of rose petals and candles and I immediately started getting teary. He then got down on one knee and asked me the beautiful words “Will you marry me?” Of course, I said Yes!
Pat had then organized a little photo shoot around the Botanical gardens where the most beautiful photos were captured that we will cherish for years to come. We then headed home to celebrate with a glass of champagne with our immediate family. I am so looking forward to marrying my Best Friend.
