how we met
I shudder to think this every time we are asked, but James and I actually met on OkCupid. We spent time talking to each other and decided to meet for a date after about two weeks. Our first date was on November 2nd, 2016 and now we’re getting married on November 2nd, 2019!
how they asked
James and I were supposed to have dinner with both of our families at the end of last summer. Plans kept falling through until his dad offered to have us all meet at Charleston, a really fancy and delicious restaurant in downtown Baltimore. I thought it was just dinner. We were all enjoying this fantastic meal but I noticed James was a little withdrawn and wasn’t eating very much. I didn’t think very much beyond that. When the dessert menu came, there was an item on the menu called, “the proposal,” and it read: “Jenny, will you marry me?” I had actually been given my menu first when I was supposed to receive it last. I could hear our parents shuffling beside us, getting their cameras ready. I looked up and James was getting down on one knee. I was so surprised! We couldn’t even speak to one another, I just kind of nodded and we knew. It was absolutely perfect.
