How We Met
We met at the business school at the University of Texas in Austin at a concert two weeks before classes began. The following day I offered to drive Jenny to our cohort happy hour. That evening we spent the entire time together talking and I asked her out on a date the next evening. From that night on we were together constantly. We spent the next two years of school traveling across the world, skiing, wine tasting, and most importantly supporting each other as we made new career decisions. After graduation, we decided to move to Houston to start the next chapter of our lives together, and shortly after were engaged in Beaver Creek, CO in December 2019. Skiing is one of our favorite activities, so it was a very fitting location.
How They Asked
Skiing has always been one of Alex and I’s favorite hobby. We plan a trip every year and this year Alex decided to visit one of our favorite mountains Vail, Colorado. I grew up going to Vail every year to ski, so it has always been a special place for me. Alex told me to bring a nice outfit to have dinner before we leave for Christmas since we were not going to spend the holiday together. My family lives in Michigan and Alex’s is in Connecticut so we decided to celebrate a couple of days earlier together. That night Alex told me to be ready at 7 pm and a car would arrive to take us to a special spot. We drove over to Beaver Creek, we had been to Beaver Creek about a year ago to stay at one of our friends so I didn’t think too much of it.
We pulled up to the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen. We were quickly escorted outside which I thought was strange and Alex popped down on one knee to propose. There was a photographer snapping photos which I did not even notice! We were then escorted around the resort taking photos and drinking champagne. We then sat down for a beautiful dinner paired with all the vineyards we had visited in Napa earlier that year. It was truly magical and I can’t wait to continue to visit the Colorado area, it means so much to us!
