How We Met
On July 8, 2015, Will and I met on a blind date at King’s bowling alley in Dedham, MA. Will was home visiting family after returning from a deployment in Japan. I had just recently graduated from nursing school. Our connection felt immediate and we went on a second date the next day before Will had to return to California, where he was stationed in the Marine Corps. While neither of us were sure of where a relationship would lead, and not to mention a 3,000 mile gap between us, we decided to take a chance and pursue one anyway. A year and a half later I decided to move to CA and end our long-distance romance for the remainder of Will’s time in the service. Two and a half years later, we moved back to our mutual home state of MA after Will ended his enlistment and began the rest of our lives
How They Asked
Just after celebrating our 3rd anniversary, we went home on vacation to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, where my family and I had been visiting for as long as I can remember. After lugging all sorts of belongings necessary for a week long trip on an island from the boat, all I could think about was waiting for the rest of my relatives to arrive while relaxing with some snacks and beverages. But Will had other plans. While I was blissfully unaware of what was about to happen, Will had actually been planning the moment to come for almost 6 months along with both of our parents. He took me down to the beach, red solo cup in hand, to test the temperature of the water. When I turned around he was kneeling in the sand with my entire family all watching from up on the porch. With my grandmother’s ring placed in a new setting, Will popped the question and of course, I said YES!
