How We Met
We’ve been together for seven years, last year we decided to take the plunge and buy a home together. Living together has been a whole new adventure, getting to know each other even more and falling deeper and deeper in love.
how they asked
We decided to take a trip to Seattle, Washington, before I started graduate school in January. Matty had never seen snow or mountains before so we took a day trip to Leavenworth, a popular Bavarian town where they have a Christmas tree lighting ceremony every weekend in December. The ride through the mountains was beautiful, it almost looked fake. It snowed all day, as we walked through the town. We tried gluehwein for the first time, drank hot buttered rum, and enjoyed the little shops and scenery.
Finally, at 4:30 p.m. the lighting ceremony began, the streets were packed, we could barely even move, but it was still so beautiful. Matty is not one for big crowds, I thought it was adorable that he was entertaining this for me. When the ceremony was done, the crowd headed back towards the buses like cattle, and I was ready to head back too since I couldn’t feel my toes anymore! But Matty wanted to take just one picture in front of the tree, which was so out of character, but I played along. Walking against the traffic it was almost impossible to get to the tree, but we made it. We took a picture and then he says “wait, one more picture.” I was like “what!?” and I look over at him and he’s on his knee…”will you marry me?” It was so magical and romantic, of course I said “yes”. I get to marry my best friend, the love of my life.
