How We Met
I had just moved back to New York and was ready to find ‘the one.’ A friend of mine encouraged me to join OKCupid, and as soon as I did, there he was. Our first date was at a 70’s themed basement bar on the Lower East Side. We drank whiskey and talked for hours about podcasts, travel, and jazz. Things moved quickly from there–on our second date, we booked a trip to New Orleans–and two weeks later, he told me he loved me.
How They Asked
He had planned the perfect proposal in Santorini–at sunrise with a photographer–but a surge in Covid cases led us to cancel our trip at the last minute. It turned out to be the best decision we ever made. Instead, Jonathan planned a staycation for us in NYC that included stops at the places that were most meaningful to us and our relationship. He got down on one knee in a beautiful garden in the heart of Greenwich Village–the same spot where he first told me he loved me. Then, he whisked me away on a private boat to Govenor’s Island–our oasis in the city–for a night of champagne, s’mores and glamping.
