Jennifer and Jeremiah

How We Met

We met on the first day of my sophomore year at Indiana University, Purdue University, Fort Wayne in one of my first ever graphic design classes. I remember scanning the room to find someone to sit next to but I didn’t know anyone because I had just switched my degree. I listened to him talk with someone he knew in the class and I thought he was funny, had a great personality and he was cute. We caught eyes a couple times, and by the end of class I had decided that I was going to sit next to him for the semester (Obviously, I was very determined to meet him and be a significant person in his life. ?)

The next day we had class and he arrived before me so I sat down in the seat next to him, I remember my heart beating quickly and thinking “Oh! Perfect!”. We made small talk and joked the entire time and by the end of the semester we were best friends, had multiple classes together and drove our professors mad because we were always flirting and goofing around.

How They Asked

I thought we were going to spend a chilly weekend in Chicago exploring the town and seeing all the lights, he had another idea.

He woke me up early, drove us up to Chicago and I slept the entire way. When I woke up I asked him if he was stopping because he needed a nap – we were at the parking lot for the shuttle. In my dazed sleepiness, I got on the shuttle without question and was excited to begin our Christmas Day in Chicago. I heard the shuttle driver ask Jeremiah what airline we were flying today and my heart dropped into my stomach with even more excitement (and a little confusion). He turned around from the front seat and winked at me. We arrived at the airport and sat at the terminal where Jeremiah convinced me that this “one-day” trip was my Christmas present.

I cried on the flighting and watched a movie.

We arrived in Dallas and drove to Magnolia Market in Waco. He told me he was going to wait in the line at the bakery and I could go into the market to shop for a bit. As I was shopping I heard someone call my name over the loudspeaker and ask me to come out to the lawn.

I walked outside and turned the corner and there was Jeremiah standing with a huge smile on his face. I was so nervous and excited that I walked up and grabbed his hands with my hand to steady myself as he got down on one knee.

I was shaking my head yes before he even had the chance to ask.
