Jennifer and Erik's Day of the Dead Proposal

How We Met

Erik & I met at a baseball game back in 2012. The Angel’s stadium to be exact. I never imagined I would have met the love of my life, now fiancé in a such a place. We hit it off right away!

Within a month of meeting, we became official. April 6, 2012 was the day he asked me to be his girlfriend. I still remember that day as if it was yesterday! We went to dinner at El Torrito that night. Dinner is such a blur now, but I remember he had a bouquet of flowers and had me read the note which read, “Would you be my girlfriend, yes or no”. I thought that was so cute!I did not hesitate and circled yes! As we finished our dinner, he had a Trio come to our table a sing a few songs, that was definitely the cherry on top!

Erik is the sweetest, nicest guy ever! He makes sure to plan everything out and make everything a special memorable day for me. Whether it’s surprising me with Disneyland Annual Passes, bringing me my favorite flowers, taking me horseback riding, writing me lover letters or just telling me good morning and good night every day! These past 3 years have been nothing but the best. He has always said that long distance relationships work as long as those two people want to make it work. We can both proudly say that we want it and have made it work! I am so in love with this amazing man!

how they asked

Erik was born in San Miguel De Allende, GTO Mexico. He came to the United States when he was 3 years old. Since we first started dating, he always expressed how he wanted me to go there and meet his grandpa, along with the rest of his family. With me being in school, I could not find the time to go to Mexico. I finally graduated in June 2015 and we started planning our trip. We wanted to go in November during the Day of the dead. We were both very excited for this trip, this would be our first vacation together! We were all set for Mexico, we landed October 31st, 2015. Meeting his grandpa and the rest of his family was amazing! San Miguel De Allende is seriously the most gorgeous place ever! Wednesday November 4, 2015, was supposed to be just a day of shopping at El Jardin in San Miguel. There is a beautiful Cathedral there that I had mentioned to him that we needed to take a picture during the day. Before we started shopping, he set his GoPro on the floor and we were getting ready to take our picture in front of the Cathedral.

After we took several photos, he grabbed my arm and turned me around to face him. He started talking to me and told me he was very happy I was there with him and that he loved me very much. He went on to say that he had asked for my hand in marriage, I was a bit confused as to why he was telling me this there. Before I knew it, he was reaching over his back pocket and pulled out a red box. “Was this really happening?” that’s exactly what ran through my mind. He grabbed my left hand and got down on one knee, where he then asked me If I wanted to marry him. I replied “YES!!” My hands would not stop shaking and I started to cry. I have dreamt of this day for so long and it was so beautiful and well thought out. After he proposed, we went to sit down by some near benches where he had a Trio sing for me. At that moment, all I could think of was how when he asked to be his girlfriend, he had someone sing and now that he asked me to be his wife he had someone sing as well.
