How We Met
Dino and I met in high school through mutual friends. We started dating in 2011 when I was a senior and he was a junior in high school. We graduated high school & we both went off to different universities outside of our hometown but our relationship held on stronger than ever! 8 years later… he popped the question while on vacation in Aruba!
How They Asked
Eight years in the making for a beautiful sunrise!!! Dino and I have traveled to many places in the past but this trip to Aruba is one I will never forget! Although we had been dating for 8 years, I did not expect the proposal while on vacation because he once told me “Proposals while on vacation are SO overrated!” so in my heart I knew that whenever he would decide to pop the question it would NOT be while on vacation. Little did I know that he had been planning this all along and told me those words because he always knew it would happen while on vacation. That morning we woke up at 4 AM to go and get in line to get tickets to the Renaissance Private Island as they only allow 20 people who aren’t staying in their resort to go per day. I was so over it and tired to the point that I almost didn’t want to go anymore! Dino knows how much I LOVE taking photos, so he said “C’mon! Let’s go, you know you’re going to get great photos of the flamingos!”
He also encouraged me to dress nicely because he wanted to get good photos to send to his mom! At that point, I didn’t find anything weird about all those instances, so I just went along with it! 7 AM came around and we were the first to get tickets and head out on the first boat to the island. Upon arriving, all I wanted to do was to lay in hammock and rest, but Dino encouraged us to go to the flamingo beach first before the crowds started to arrive, which made sense! Once there, I took out my camera and started looking for someone to take a photo of us both with the flamingos in the background.
I found this nice young man who was willing to take a photo of us. I got in place and started to fix my hair while looking down at my dress, as I’m fixing it all I heard Dino say is “Take A LOT of photos please!”, I turned around to look at him instantly because he doesn’t even like to take photos and there he was on one knee, asking me to be his wife!! I gasped for air and immediately began to cry and yelled out “No! OMG! Dino! NOOO! OMG! OMG!” between catching my breath he asked one more time and I yelled “YES!!” at the top of my lungs! The moment was honestly so unexpected and surreal! I never in my life imagined he would propose in such a beautiful way and at such a perfect location; It was honestly the perfect sunrise!
A special thanks to the young man who took our beautiful photos. I did not get his name but thank you so much!! We are now planning our wedding for March 2020 and I honestly cannot wait to spend forever by Dino’s side!
