How We Met
Dan and I met at The College of New Jersey in September, 2012. We were both the homecoming chairs of our respective Greek organizations, a job neither of us particularly wanted in the first place. However, after the first homecoming meeting, both of us became very close to each other! We became boyfriend and girlfriend on New Year’s Eve 2012. We have enjoyed traveling, watching movies and shows together, going out to eat, cooking, exercising, and spending time with family and friends. We bought our first home together in June 2017.
how they asked
In July 2017, we went on a 16-day trip to England and Spain. We went to London, Liverpool, and hiked for 5 days across northern Spain on El Camino de Santiago. Little did I know, Dan had a beautiful engagement ring in his pocket through all of these travels. At the very end of the trip, we went to Salamanca, a place special to Dan because he studied abroad there. At the hotel, I wanted to go eat dinner, but Dan kept delaying because he wanted it to be dark out for the proposal, because all of the lights go on in the plaza and it looks beautiful. I didn’t know why he wasn’t ready to go! Finally, after eating in the plaza (Plaza Mayor), Dan said we should go to take a picture of the pretty lights that had just turned on. As I took my phone out to take a picture, I noticed Dan reaching in his pocket. “Why is your hand in your pocket…?” I asked and I was so shocked. Dan said “You know how much I love you…” and he started to pop the question!
I thought I was dreaming, and of course I said YES! Dan’s sister and brother wonderfully captured the moment through videos and photos. Upon returning back to the USA, we had an engagement celebration dinner with my parents and brothers, and an engagement party with all of our extended family. We are so excited for our upcoming wedding and can’t wait to share the day with our loving family and friends!
