How They Asked
Brent and his family always do a week-long vacation with their whole family. They rent out 5-6 cabins, play games, have drinks, float the lake, and enjoy each other’s company. I’d been up to Spirit Lake before, but for the first time in 5 years, I was able to stay the whole trip. Come Tuesday, everyone was starting to spend their days relaxing and we’d go out on the boats for an evening ride and fishing. I headed down to the pontoon, but soon thereafter more family started to come down and I was told I needed to move to the fishing boat to make more room for grandma, aunts, and uncles. I got off the pontoon and walked down the dock, but as I was turning to head toward the other boat, Brent grabbed my hand and got down on one knee.
His whole family was there to witness him asking me to be his wife, and it was the easiest question I’ve ever been asked to answer – and of course, I said yes. His cousins had made a run to the local liquor store to get some champagne to celebrate along with lots of hugs and happy tears. I cannot wait to marry this man. He makes me the happiest I could ever be.
