How We Met
Scottie and I met in 2018 after both swiping right on Bumble. That’s right, bumble! We had our first date at Webster’s Wine bar in Logan Square. He knew how much I loved wine even before we officially met. To this day, we talk about how after five hours, we knew we had something special.
Four months later we took our first trip together to Greece and Italy. It was through our love for travel, adventure, and food that we fell in love with each other. Fast forward to our one year anniversary, we decided to look at engagement rings. Little did I know, three months later we would be getting engaged! Scottie always finds ways to surprise me and his proposal was nothing short of that!
How They Asked
Scottie told me we were going on a double date near the Lincoln Park Conservatory. I was told to be ready by 4:30 and I’m never on time, somehow I was on time. We arrived early (right before the rain) so we decided to walk around the conservatory when Scottie pointed out a busker. As we made our way to the man, he started singing “In Case You Didn’t Know” by Brett Young, I realized this night was more than just a double date night.
About halfway through the song, Scottie turned to me and said, “I’ve known for a long time that I love you and that I want to spend my life with you. Will you marry me?” Of course, I said YES! It was everything I imagined it would be, but better! Luckily our photographer was able to capture everything (all before the rain), even the surprise engagement party Scottie planned that night with all of our friends and family!
