How They Asked
Kyle & I had dinner reservations with good friends, Bob and Renee, at one of our favorite restaurants in La Jolla, Piatti. We first met for drinks at a bar across the street and Renee & I chatted about the latest episode of one our guiltiest pleasures, Bachelor in Paradise. On the show, 2 of the cast members had just gotten engaged, and we laughed about how the girl was strutting on the beach in heels when she got proposed to. Before dinner, Kyle suggested we all go to the beach to catch the sunset. I thought it was a little weird – it was overcast and I’m usually the one dragging Kyle to go watch the sunset! But I was totally clueless, I had absolutely no idea he was planning on proposing at all. We got to the beach at La Jolla Shores, and Kyle wanted to walk ONTO to the beach to watch the sunset – I was in heels, so i turned to Renee and jokingly said, “byeee going to go get engaged!” Renee didn’t know what Kyle had planned either but the next thing I knew, Kyle was down on 1 knee! I was so stunned I don’t remember anything he said, but it was perfect & we immediately celebrated with champagne and an amazing dinner, and lots of drinks with friends at the bar Kyle runs in Pacific Beach to finish the night.
