Jen and Nathan

July 4th- my (now) fiancee’s favorite holiday. Since the beginning of our relationship we’ve been long-distance with me in Indianapolis and him in Nashville (where we’re both from). So naturally I left work on that Thursday before (we had Friday off) and drove home to spend the weekend with him. We had plans to run the Run for the Party Music City 5k downtown early that morning and then spend the afternoon visiting friend and family bar-b-ques for the rest of the day and then go to the fireworks show downtown that evening. Here we are during the race that morning.. as you can already tell, the weather wasn’t spectacular.. but we didn’t let it ruin our patriotic fun!

Then, after visiting with our friends and family during the day (and getting rained on at least 5 times) we got cleaned up and headed downtown for the Martina McBride concert and fireworks show. As you can see, the rain did let up.. temporarily.

Then, the rains came. And I mean boy did it rain. But we didn’t care. We were having a blast just hanging out with 150,000 of our closest friends and getting soaked. (This photo is proof that I had no idea what was coming… who wears a poncho to get proposed to?! I do.)

Little did I know that minutes after I snapped the #ponchoswag selfie above that my boyfriend and best friend would get down on one knee during an incredible fireworks display in my favorite city and ask me to do life with him forever as his wife. After screaming something like ” I KNEW YOU WERE ACTING WEIRD!” I said yes to becoming Mrs. Nathan Wallach. Image 4 of Jen and Nathan

Little did I know, he had already gone and asked both my dad and my mom earlier in the week and his family knew as well! They surprised me the next day with a lunch for our families to celebrate our engagement together. It was the most perfect, crazy proposal that I had no idea I was in for. I think back now to how stressed he must have been with the crazy weather and us looking like drowned rats (and wearing ponchos) but it literally could not have been more perfect. As he said, #noraindelay. We’re getting MARRIED!
