How We Met

So Antonio and I met in March of 2022, I was in no position ready to date anyone again let alone re-settle down after just going through some major life changes within the last three years. When I met him one of our first conversations was “I’m looking for my Future Wife, I want to have Kids and a Big Family and I’m looking for my Best Friend.” Although that may come off strong, I have to respect how straightforward he was. The two of us had A LOT to grow individually before becoming one, but somewhere in-between the patience, the growth, and the undeniable connections, I found myself Falling in Love with my Best Friend.

It was the moment I told Antonio I had to leave town for a Month, that I was going to be traveling for work, and without a doubt, he came and visited me almost every day no matter how out of the way or annoying that may have been. The final moment I knew he was the one was during a discussion we had on where I was in life vs. where he was/heading. He sat me down and said, you can either go find someone who is a better man, or I can step up and be the better man, and that’s exactly what he did. The rest is history.

How They Asked

When I met Antonio I knew Hockey was his entire life. He has played Hockey for 17 Years, most of our nights are spent on the Ice and me watching him from the Stands. I knew Antonio wasn’t looking to Date for a long time he was ready to start his life. In knowing this, I knew his dream proposal would come with him being on the ice. Of course, when you’re a little girl you have your dream proposal, your dream Pinterest board set up, but I knew Antonio so I already knew we’d be on the Ice.

Before every game, I give Antonio a Yellow twist Bottle of Gatorade with the seal off. So on March 7, just like any other game, I went to hand him his bottle. What I thought was any other game, turned out to be the greatest night of my life. He grabbed the bottle and grabbed my hands, he placed the bottle on the ground, reached in his pocket and all I see are his teammates flooding behind him with poster boards with hundreds of photos of Him and me. He got down on one knee, and to this day till I replay the video, I can’t even tell you what he said.

I know in the middle I laughed and pointed for him to turn around because his teammates were holding up posters that spelled “Marry me, will you? “. So after they shuffled into their proper space the reality kicked in. We no longer were two individuals waiting to grow, we were one. We were our own team, and no matter how difficult the game will ever get, we’ll always be a team. Saying yes was the easiest decision any girl would ever make when it comes to you. After I was Aw at my ring and how perfect it was I said yes (I think ), I turned around and there was our family and loved ones standing behind us to celebrate. I couldn’t have dreamt of a more perfect engagement, and now the bridal hair and makeup artist is finally going to be the Bride herself.

That evening, we decided on our Wedding Date. In 2019 my Dad passed away, and as you can imagine it’s gut-wrenching for any woman to plan a wedding without their father. I’m so lucky Antonio and my Mom have the relationship they do and he was able to ask my mom and sister for permission to marry me since he never got the chance to have that with my dad. He and I decided to get married on October 11, which is my parent’s wedding anniversary. In my own unique ways, I can have my dad with me, and I can follow in the footsteps of two of the greatest people I have ever known Love Story.

so yes, yes today tomorrow, and every day

love xoxo
