How We Met
Austin and I met through mutual friends at Marquette University. At the time, I was a sophomore and Austin was a junior. It took about a year of casual run-ins and conversation for it to spark into something more. At the end of my junior year, Austin finally made the first move by asking me to his fraternity formal but took nearly 6 months to officially ask me out!
How They Asked
Austin had been planning a bunch of surprise dinners months leading up to the proposal. When he told me we had dinner plans but he wasn’t going to share where I assumed he was just planning yet another “surprise dinner”. The night before the proposal, we were planning outfits and making sure we matched…not knowing what was actually about to happen! When we were in the car, we received a phone call from “Harbor House” stating they moved our reservation back an hour due to COVID.
She blew the cover and I knew exactly the plans for the rest of the evening, a nice dinner by Lake Michigan. So, I thought! Since we had “time” now before the reservation, Austin suggested going for a walk. We gave the keys to the valet and headed down the gorgeous path by the water.
We were joking about the weather, of course, we live in Wisconsin, and casually talking. The next thing I knew, Austin was down on his knee asking to spend the rest of his life with me! We later enjoyed a seafood dinner at the Harbor House and a night at the Pfister Hotel just the two of us. Our families joined for an amazing brunch at the Pfister to celebrate the next morning!
