how they asked
A few years ago, I was hit by a car in New York, breaking both my legs. Waking up after my first surgery, doctors were doubtful I’d ever be able to walk stairs ever again. One of my feet couldn’t even pick up, nerve damage and the like. My spirit was shattered like the bones in my legs. But Jeanette never showed her cards. She never showed doubt that I’d make a full recovery. She said she would walk up stairs with me every time there’s an option for an elevator or escalator. It was easily the hardest 2 years of my life getting back to where I am today. Needless to say, stairs have a big metaphorical significance to our relationship. One step at a time.
Then, Jeanette moved to New York having just got her Masters in interiors as I was well on the road to recovery. She got her first big girl job with her dream interior design firm and had to grind for a year before she was given more range to show her creative and eloquent designs. So her first project where she was proud to say was her design, were these set of stairs for a major client in their flagship headquarters in New York City. The city that put our love through an ultimate test. I will be surprising Jeanette at the top of those stairs with a ring.
