How We Met
Bennett and I have been great friends for many years, mainly due to my older brother and (now) sister-in-law being friends with him first. He lived a number of places, at Purdue University, Florida, Illinois, but when he would visit home, we would always spend time together and go on adventures. Eventually, it was clear that we were meant to be!
How They Asked
I am so excited to share our engagement story- it is a day that I will never forget, and I love replaying it in my head as we quickly approach our big day in August!
My fiance, Bennett, had just finished his Private Pilot license and I could tell how excited he was to finally complete his lessons. Days after, he already had a Saturday planned to take me up for my first flight with him. I was nervous, of course, but he seemed MORE nervous (which makes sense now).
We took off and it was incredible to be up flying, but even more to look over and see my boyfriend as the pilot! We didn’t have a destination in mind, so we flew toward our family’s homes. It was a clear day, so I kept pointing out familiar places, I saw thousands of feet down!
Finally, I saw my parent’s home! I looked up to him and expressed how cool this day was. He grabbed my hand and said how much he loved me, and told me to look down.
It took a few seconds to understand what I was looking at…”Marry Me?” was plowed into the field directly below us. Some tears, laughing, and “speechlessness” later…I said “YES!!!” and he put the beautiful ring on my finger. I loved this day.
