How We Met
Juan and I met working at Panda Express. When we first met, we weren’t close, but a trip with coworkers to Forest Falls sealed the deal for us. I was planning the trip and called Juan to ask if he was planning to join us; that phone call was the start of everything. We talked for 5 hours about our dreams, goals, and interests, and we immediately fell for each other. We flirted with each other the entire trip at Forest Falls and held hands for the first time.
After that day, we were inseparable. After our trip to Forest Falls, Juan & I spent so much of our time together. On July 5, 2015, Juan took me on a date & ended the night by looking at the stars at the park near my parents’ house in his convertible car. As we sat under the stars, he kissed me & asked, “will you be my girlfriend?” I knew how deep my feelings were and the only response I could give was a yes.
How They Asked
It’s been a childhood dream of mine to visit New York. I was involved in musical theater in middle and high school and I always wanted to visit Broadway and Times Square. I shared this with Juan early in our relationship and he shared that we would one day visit together.
For our 6-year anniversary, Juan surprised me with a 10-day trip to New York! I assumed it was a trip to celebrate our new home and didn’t realize the intent was to propose. Juan booked a fireworks dinner cruise on the East River for the Fourth of July.
We were lucky enough to have front row seats on the Majestic Princess and once the fireworks began, Juan got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I, without any hesitation, said yes!
